"Early on, Thaw proves full of surprises – from the abstract black noise of opening track “The Gate” to the slow, driving sludge heaviness of “Ancestors” to the mid-paced, blasting black metal ferocity of “Divine Light” (and that’s just the first three tracks). Extremely versatile in their songwriting, THAW cover quite a bit of territory here – noise, black metal, psychedelia, ambient, doom, and more. From the first couple of tracks, it is quickly apparent that if nothing else, this album is going to be keeping you on your toes."
I stumbled upon this great band by me searching for black metal as I’m fairly new to the genre, only listening for just under 2 years and god damn am I blessed to have found this a few months ago. V is definitely my favorite track because god damn listen to those drum patterns holy cow!
Everything about this album speaks to me in such a level I don’t think I myself truly understand what that level is. Thank you 🙏🏽 Miguel Espinosa
